Policy Advisor, Health Policy

UnidosUS seeks a Policy Advisor who can play a key role in helping shape and execute efforts to advance UnidosUS’s federal and state health policy agenda. The Policy Advisor will be responsible for contributing to policy ideation across the portfolio which includes issues such as health coverage and care, nutrition and health weight, and an emerging body of work on social and emotional well-being. The Policy Advisor will also play a key role in writing policy papers, issue briefs, and congressional testimony in a variety of lengths and formats for diverse audiences and work with colleagues to plan, conduct, and publish various analyses of data, programs, and emerging issues.

Senior Director of Legislative and Congressional Affairs

UnidosUS is seeking a Senior Director of Legislative and Congressional Affairs in its Washington, DC office. The Legislative and Congressional Affairs department works to build and nurture relationships with Congress, the federal government, and state leaders to provide relevant and timely information about public policy issues that matter to the Latino community, and lobby on behalf of UnidosUS’s policy priorities. UnidosUS works with a variety of coalition partners to achieve its major policy and legislative goals in key areas such as civil rights, education, housing, jobs, immigration, and health care. The Senior Director will develop strategy and execute tactics to advance legislation on Capitol Hill and support legislative work in statehouses with the aim of producing policy outcomes. This work will include direct engagement with policymakers, development of legislative proposals and measures, and representing UnidosUS at hearings, forums, briefings, and other events where/when appropriate. S/he will supervise staff and be responsible for consultants and advisors as well manage the lobbying budget and ensure compliance with lobbying rules and regulations.

Education Policy Analyst

UnidosUS is seeking a Policy Analyst to join its Education Policy Project, which aims to increase the school readiness and achievement of Latino students through policy and program solutions. Housed in the highly respected policy analysis and civil engagement division, the Education Policy Project has a track record of influencing policy change, advancing work at all phases of the policy process including development, legislative debate, and regulatory action. As a leading advocate on education policy encompassing the perspectives of Latinos and English language learners, UnidosUS has led or worked in coalition with organizations on legislation such as the reauthorization of Head Start and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), among others.

The Policy Analyst, Education Policy Project is responsible for engaging on issues related to the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act and issues related to postsecondary education, including the reauthorization of HEA, in the Policy and Advocacy component. The ideal candidate for this role will be a creative, critical thinker; have strong interpersonal skills; have solid writing and communications ability; and, share a deep commitment to advancing equity on behalf of vulnerable Latinos.

This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Education Policy Project.
