New York Times Best-Selling Author Nely Galán leads a town hall on the economy at 2016 NCLR Annual Conference. Republican Strategist Ana Navarro; President and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute Aisha C. Moodie-Mills; and Celebrity Chefs Ingrid Hoffmann, Denisse Oller, and Claudia Sandoval speak at Latinas Brunch.

 

ORLANDO, Fla.—On Sunday, July 24, Nely Galán, former President of Entertainment at Telemundo and New York Times best-selling author, will lead a town hall at the 2016 NCLR Annual Conference about the role of Latinas in the future of the U.S. economy.

Other notable events of the day include the Latinas Brunch, where Ana Navarro, Republican Strategist and Political Commentator, as well as Aisha C. Moodie-Mills, President and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute, will address attendees. The Conference will also feature workshops on the battle for health coverage and the significance of the Latino vote in current and future elections at the Orange County Convention Center, West Halls E and F. Celebrating Success and Defending Gains: The Battle for Better Health Coverage for Latino Families

The Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program have allowed millions of Americans, including Latinos, to gain health coverage. Learn about the successes and challenges in closing the coverage gap.

Join us for a brunch celebrating Latina empowerment. The event features a panel of accomplished women, including Ana Navarro, Republican Strategist and Political Commentator, Aisha C. Moodie-Mills, the President and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute. Stay for a panel discussion with celebrity chefs Ingrid Hoffmann, Denisse Oller, and Claudia Sandoval on how they connected with their Latina heritage through cooking.

 

A Force Unleashed: The Rising Economic Power of Latinas

Nely Galán, former President of Entertainment at Telemundo and current New York Times best-selling author, will lead this town hall on the changing role of women in the U.S. economy. At the heart of this discussion will be the 200% rise in the number of Latina-owned businesses over the past 10 years.

 

Democracy in Action: Energizing the Latino Vote in 2016 and Beyond

Latino voters will be key in a growing number of electoral races. Closing registration gaps, and preparing for redistricting in 2020 will be important topics. Panelists will discuss the 2016 election, as well as the importance of aiding eligible Latino voters in having their voices heard.

 

Networking Receptions

5:15–7:15 p.m.

These receptions honor NCLR’ Affiliates that work across the country, allowing them to come together to recognize the progress that has been made, as well as the challenges ahead. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
