Content Specialist

The Content Specialist will support the Communications team by creating content for communications and marketing purposes across the organization.

The person will also edit and revise content from across UnidosUS’s components for grammar, style, and messaging in accordance with UnidosUS’s style guide.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Content Development and is hybrid, based out of Washington, DC.

Essential Functions

  • Create and produce content for print, web, digital, and audiovisual materials used for UnidosUS’s communications and marketing needs.
  • Help conceptualize and implement content to be used in campaigns across multiple issue areas.
  • Edit as needed daily requests for media (releases, advisories, blog posts, op-eds, website content), marketing (ads, e-blasts, invites, save-the-dates), development (appeals, newsletters), policy (action alerts, advocacy materials), and other UnidosUS components.
  • Support the Senior Content Specialist with editing of institutional projects to provide final reviews of contracted publications and other designed pieces in layout.
  • Maintain and develop editing resources on the UnidosUS intranet.
  • Support the Senior Content Specialist in developing and delivering webinars and writing trainings for new and current staff.
  • Keep track of current and upcoming projects.
  • Attend meetings with UnidosUS components as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, and/or Communications required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Superior, demonstrable English writing and editing skills and a drive for perfection.
  • Strong knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and AP style.
  • Demonstrated willingness to experiment across content types and areas.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide responsive, personable, and informed support to UnidosUS writers.
