Program Manager, Economic Initiatives
UnidosUS Economic Initiatives seeks an experienced and accomplished program manager with a deep affinity for the organization’s mission and commitment to advancing housing opportunities and wealth-building for Latinos. Success in this position requires leadership, confidence, and vision; thoughtful strategic planning; interpersonal communication; and skill in project development and management. The manager works as a critical team member to conceptualize and implement UnidosUS’s efforts to increase the Latino homeownership rate to 60% by 2030 by helping to create approximately four million Latino homeowners. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Economic Initiatives.
Essential Functions
Program Development and Implementation
- Advise and provide expert guidance on the development and execution of the initiative to increase Latino homeownership.
- Help develop a program management framework across multiple workstreams to advance the homeownership goal. These workstreams will initially include research, communications, policy, and programs. Workstreams may be revised or expanded over time.
- Manage program activities, including monitoring milestones and progress across all workstreams, and prepare progress reports for key stakeholders, such as the UnidosUS Board of Directors and funders.
- Establish and manage partnerships with multiple internal and external teams to advance homeownership and wealth-building.
- Schedule internal workstream meetings, manage meeting agendas, and track action items.
- Help ensure deliverables are met, milestones and timelines are adhered to, finances are monitored, and programs comply with good practice as well as with UnidosUS terms and conditions.
- Identify opportunities to expand programs and initiatives with diverse funders and partners in collaboration with leadership.
- Work in partnership with UnidosUS staff, Affiliates, and other collaborative partners to identify and design best practices and approaches to strengthen homeownership efforts.
- Monitor and track activities of external experts and stakeholders to help keep the team apprised of important developments in the field.
Public Information and Communications
- Manage the editing process of Economic Initiatives materials.
- Prepare written internal and external reports, updates, materials, and other necessary communications and campaigns.
- Work with the UnidosUS Communications & Marketing team to create and manage information on the UnidosUS website and social media outlets.
- Support dissemination of evidence-based and culturally relevant program information, announcements, digital materials, and tools.
- Represent UnidosUS and the Economic Initiatives team in professional settings, which may include meetings with partners and funders and media opportunities.
- Provide support in resource development and funding activities, including the preparation of proposals.
- Advocate for and on behalf of underserved Latino communities.
General
- Collaborate with the Affiliate Engagement team to identify opportunities for Affiliate peer support and related efforts.
- Support and participate in cross-component UnidosUS collaborations, specifically with program, policy, Affiliate member service, communications, and Alignment Team.
- Communicate and collaborate with UnidosUS staff and relevant staff in headquarters and field offices.
- Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and in a variety of situations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- A master’s degree in Community Development, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field, or at least five years of equivalent experience in housing.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in Community Development, Public Policy, Public Administration, and or housing is required.
- Demonstrated experience in local, state, and/or national housing policy, programs, or industry, particularly with Latino and other multicultural perspectives.
- Expertise and practical knowledge of the housing sector, particularly in home lending.
- Experience working with relevant sectors, including community-based/nonprofits, research institutions, federal/state agencies, community development corporations, community development financial institutions, and the corporate community.
- Strong ability to develop work plans, set deadlines, work with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and prioritize assignments.
- Demonstrated management of multiple projects.
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization is a plus.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Office 365.

- High degree of initiative and ability to work without constant supervision.
- Flexible in regard to scheduled work hours and assignments, including ability to travel as necessary.
