Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign that makes it fun to come together to raise money and awareness for children who need our help most, in America and around the world. UnidosUS knows this firsthand, because thanks to the support of Comic Relief USA, the organization behind Red Nose Day, we are changing the lives of Latino children living in rural areas in the United States, while bringing up smiles to the families and communities we serve (watch this video to see what we are talking about). So thank YOU for joining this year’s FUN-raising for Red Nose Day 2019 and helping raise almost $40 million to help our children be safe, healthy, and educated.
This year’s Red Nose Day campaign and UnidosUS sought to increase awareness and get more people involved, especially through social media (check out the hashtags #NosesOn, and #UnidosNoseHeroes to see some amazing pictures).
This exceptional occasion culminated with an action-packed night of programming on NBC, that included the fifth annual Red Nose Day Special followed by a special Red Nose Day edition of “Hollywood Game Night.”
In only five years, Red Nose Day has raised more than $190 million to help end child poverty. Their focus on child poverty is to ensure that every child reaches their full potential, eliminating the barriers that stop them from achieving it and breaking the cycle of poverty. Thanks to Red Nose Day and your support, during these five years:
- 6 million children have received essential medical services.
- 146,000 children have gained access to water, sanitation, and hygiene.
- 3 million vaccines have been purchased.
- 36 million meals have been served.
- 77,000 homeless children have been helped.
- 967,000 children have received educational resources.
UnidosUS’s Healthy and Ready for the Future initiative is part of these statistics. We are proud to be the national Latino organization partnered with the Red Nose Day Fund at Comic Relief USA. It supports our Healthy and Ready for the Future program that provides Latino children, especially those from migrant and seasonal farmworker families, with a healthy start in oral and behavioral health.
To engage with our followers and Affiliate Network, as well as raise awareness, we also launched a photo contest to celebrate Red Nose Day, and we had a lot of fun submissions:
