Latinos Jobs Report: Latino Unemployment Rate At 7.3%

Fact Sheet

The May 2021 jobs report showed that the economy added 559,000 jobs, an improvement to the April 2021 jobs report that vastly missed expectations.

The hospitality and leisure sector drove much of the job creation, while employment in the construction and retail trade saw job loss.

The Latino unemployment rate edged down to 7.3%. While there was a modest improvement in this month’s job report, Latinos are still far behind where they were pre-pandemic, highlighting the need for bold policy action inclusive of Latino workers and their families.
